Erdig, temporeich, klassisch, Blues ohne Schnörkel: So präsentieren der Gitarrist und Sänger John Primer und der Harmonika-Virtuose Bob Corritore nach „Knockin’ Around These Blues“ ihr zweites gemeinsames Album bei Delta Groove: „Ain't Nothing You Can Do“. Bob Corritores Komposition „Harmonica Boogaloo“ mit Barrelhouse Chuck am Klavier ist ein herrliches Muster für die rein instrumentale Variante des Chicago Blues, „Poor Man Blues“, Sonny Boy Williamsons „Elevate Me Mama“, Johnny Tmples „Big Leg Woman“ und Chester Burnetts „May I Have a Talk with You“ stehen beispielhaft für das geniale Zusammenspiel von Song, Gitarre und Blues Harp.
Das ist in Text und Musik pures Gefühl, Sehnsucht in Noten und Riffs, aber durch den Swing darin auch unbedingt tanzbar. Denn so richtig stillsitzen kann man bei diesen seelenvollen Balladen nicht. Auf den Spuren von Muddy Waters, Albert King, John Lee Hooker und B.B. King, deren Schuhe ihnen prima passen, wird hier Blues nicht nur gespielt, er wird zelebriert.
